Vintage-ish Philadelphia wallpaper. I’m not super happy with the bell, but I’ve been using it for a few days now and I’m happy with it.

Do yourself a favor and go to Philadelphia Chutney Company on Sansom between 16th & 17th. It’s a casual Indian place that serves dosas, which are these thin, crepe like things filled with yummy goodness. All vegetarian. Great prices, filling but not overly so. M & I went and for 2 dosas and 2 bottles of water it was under $20.
I’ve yet to find a great Indian places (any recs?) serving more dinner type curries and whatnot, but this is a great place to get my Indian fill for a lunch/lighter meal.
If you like meat in large quantities, kimchi, bbq-ing your own food and playing with fire, head to International Smokeless BBQ at 6th & Washington. $17.95 (cheaper at lunch) gets you a huge plate of various raw meats (short ribs [kalbi], sliced beef [bulgogi], squid, shrimp, chicken & more) & veggies, plus a “salad bar” of accompaniments (lettuce for making ssam, kimchi) and sauces. It’s delicious and super fun with a group.
Tonight I saw a dude in dirty jorts carrying two plastic bags, each straining under the weight of a box of Franzia.
Thanks Philly for making me feel sane.
One more reason not to ride the ducks.
Dear O Sandwiches,
Thanks for being a delicious and cheap alternative to the tourist mecca (and frankly, poor quality) that are Pats & Geno’s.
Please don’t change.
Love always,
Lindsey
Headed into Center City this afternoon after a morning in South Jersey. Unsuccessful trip to Gap & a successful trip to Barnes & Noble, followed up by some time reading in Rittenhouse Square.
I love Philly.
This is why I love the City of Brotherly Love.
Because I can look down my street and see William Penn towering over his city. Philly has its problems and God knows I don’t agree with many of the things that go on in this corrupt little town, but I look past my neighbor’s houses, feel accomplished at the end of a 12 hour work day and feel at home.
For better or worse, this is my home.
